What’s Up, March?

Hey, how about kicking off this weekend by joining the virtual MCIS LIFE Malaysia Women Run 2021 that starts this 8 March until 8 April 2021? This means that you have almost a month to complete the category you choose to run, jog, walk or cycle in, be it 50km, 100km, 150km or 200km, or 400km for the cycling category. There’s also the Elite categories for those who want to run an actual marathon in one single session, with the grand prize being a free slot at the Shenzhen Marathon! More details here.

Want to support local Malaysian female entrepreneurs? Then head on to Vanity Atrium at Sunway Velocity Mall, Cheras to check out wares on offer by female-run businesses at the Boss Babes Women’s Empowering Weekend Pop-Up Market, happening from 17 until 28 March 2021. If you’re a fan of superhero movies, make sure you’re subscribed to HBO GO to catch the premiere of Zack Snyder’s Justice League – the movie fans say should have been released rather than the 2017 version. We say: there’s room for both and the more the merrier! The new cut premieres on 18 March 2021 – the same day as the release in the US.
Meanwhile, for theatre lovers, be sure to catch Unity 1918 brought to you by Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) via online streaming. Running from 18 until 28 March 2021, the pre-recorded performance was shot during the MCO and tells the story of the 1918 flu pandemic – in this story focused on the town of Unity in Saskatchewan, Canada as told by Kevin Kerr in his book of the same name. The performing arts community suffered a big blow when shows were not allowed during the past MCO, so this is your chance to be a patron of the arts and show your support! Tickets for access to the show range in price from RM25 to RM100 and can be purchased from the link on their website.

Personal Tax: Every Ringgit Saved Is a Ringgit Earned is just timely as tax season rolls around. The online webinar is happening this 19 March 2021 and is free. Register at the link provided here.

If you’re in London, you can check out the exhibition Bags: Inside Out at Victoria and Albert Museum. Featuring all kinds of bags – and their significance, from military rucksacks to limited edition luxury branded handbags, among the must-sees on display are Winston Churchill’s red despatch bag, a Louis Vuitton travel trunk from the early 1900s, and the iconic grey Asprey handbag owned by Margaret Thatcher. The exhibition is on-going until September 2021, so there’s hope for us non-Londoners yet to be able to see it in person.
