Singapore Food Festival 2021 Comes In Hybrid Format
When life gives you lemons, get cooking! That’s how the Singapore Food Festival 2021 (SFF 2021) is taking on the problems posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Since it would be quite difficult to physically welcome foodies from all over the world – or even in Singapore, for that matter, the Singapore Food Festival 2021 is going hybrid this year.
From 28 August until 12 September, the Singapore Food Festival 2021 is its 28th edition and will feature a lot of online events. That means that anyone can join in the fun from virtually anywhere around the world. There are over 50 gastronomic and drinks experience to look forward to, including masterclasses, virtual food tours and workshops. Meanwhile, those in Singapore can also look forward to ordering from secret menus from local restaurants.
Online Events At Singapore Food Festival 2021

For The Love Of The S.E.A. by Laut 4-Hands with Le Du
Chef Lim Hoe Gern of Laut from Singapore joins forces with celebrity Chef Ton of one-Michelin star Le Du from Thailand to bring you their livestream masterclass. Through this exclusive session open only to ticket-holders on its premier day, participants will learn how the chefs create their own version of pan-roasted Prawn Raja, with umami-laden simmered rice.

Old School Cool: Egg Tarts and Kopi Appreciation featuring Tong Heng and Kim Guan Guan Coffee
Ana Fong of local pastry brand Tong Heng and Jason Soon of Kim Guan Guan – a traditional Singapore-style coffee brand, pair egg tarts with coffee in their free-to-view pairing session. Think egg tarts with a peach gum jelly topping and a velvety Robusta and Columbia coffee blend.

Creamy and Spice-packed Curry Heaven by Kotuwa
Watch and learn as Chef Rishi Naleendra of Kotuwa – that highly-anticipated Sri Lankan restaurant that finally opened in December 2020 to much fanfare and rave reviews, as he prepares his Devilled Prawn Curry and Poricha Erachi (fried beef cheek in sweet tamarind, chilli and lime).

Virtual Food Tours For The Authentic Singapore Food Experience
While most of us outside of Singapore may not be able to step foot on the island for it’s food, its sights and sounds can still be savoured via virtual food tours. Look out for food tours of Little India and Tiong Bahru, led by Nikki Muller down the streets of the city, and you just might be able to smell the excitement!
After that, how about watching how food waste like bread crust and fruit peels can be turned into beer? Behind the Brand: CRUST looks back on how the Singaporean sustainable start-up came to be and what exactly goes into their products.
